BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 2 ranked Lynn women’s tennis team opened the season against St. Thomas (FL) and lived up to the ranking beating the Bobcats, 7-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

–          Lynn got off to a fast start with a 6-0, 6-0 win by Ulyana Grib beat Annie Carrera.

–          Federica Mordegan beat Lia Pena in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2.

–          Liga Eleonora cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Manami Maehama.

–          Giorgia Pigato made quick work of her match against Thalia Skeene, 6-1, 6-0.

–          With the match already decided, Valeriya Pogrebnyak and Eliska Petroackova each played a single set to eight and both won, 8-0.

DOUBLES:

–          Grib and Pogrebnyak beat Carrera and Pena, 6-0.

–          Pigato and Lapustina Irina swept Skeene and Shibata, 6-0.

–          Mordegan and Eleonora won their match over Mariah Bastos and Giovanna Paschoalin, 6-0.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE

–          Lynn only dropped four points in the nine matches.
