USF’s Corrick Named The American Pitcher of the Week

Corrick went 4-0 over the weekend, including pitching the majority of USF’s 27th no-hitter

TAMPA, FLA. Feb. 24, 2020 – Junior pitcher Georgina Corrick was named The American Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Corrick went 4-0 over the weekend, pitching two complete games and six innings of a no-hitter on Friday. Brooke Hartman also was named one of the AAC’s Honor Roll selections for her efforts in the weekend sweep.

Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) opened the weekend on Feb. 21 with six strong innings in a 7-1 win over FIU, where she surrendered no hits and struck out 11 batters. With Vivian Ponn, she combined for USF’s 27th no-hitter in program history. It’s the third time that two pitchers have combined to complete the feat, and the second time that Corrick has been a participant in one. She previously threw a solo no-hitter in 2018 against North Florida.

Corrick returned to the circle on Feb. 22, making the start against No. 12 Tennessee. In her first complete game of the weekend, Corrick allowed only one run on five hits. She entered in relief for USF’s second game of the day, shutting the door on FIU in extra innings and earning the win over the Panthers.

On Feb. 23, Corrick once again earned the start against Tennessee. Again pitching the entire game, the junior allowed just one earned run to earn the victory the 3-2 win.

Overall, Corrick threw 20.1 innings and struck out 22 batters. She earned all four victories, pushing her record to 5-3 on the year and improving her ERA to 2.13.

Hartman was one of five named to the conference’s weekly honor roll. Hartman went 6-for-12 over the weekend with four RBIs. Playing a crucial role in all of USF’s victories, the senior also hit a walk-off single to push the Bulls to a 5-4 victory over FIU on Feb. 22.
