USF WBB: Blasigh Earns Fifth AAC Freshman Of The Week Honor

Tampa, Fla. Feb. 5, 2024 – South Florida women’s basketball freshman guard Vittoria Blasigh has earned American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week honors for the fifth time this season, announced by the league office on Monday. Redshirt junior forward Romi Levy was selected to the AAC Honor Roll.

The Udine, Italy native is the first Bull to earn AAC Freshman of the Week honors five times in a single season.

Blasigh put up 12 points to help South Florida to a 69-46 win at Memphis on Thursday night. She then turned around and led all scorers with 21 points in a 72-69 road win at UAB. She has collared 16 double-digit scoring performances and five 20-plus point games this season.

The freshman guard is ranked 16th nationally with 62 total 3-pointers made this season and leads all freshmen in the NCAA.

Levy averaged 21.0 points per game and 5.5 boards per contest in two road wins at Memphis and UAB. The redshirt junior led all scorers with 24 points against Memphis and had 18 points against UAB. Levy has been tabbed as an Honor Roll selection three times this season.

UP NEXT

South Florida returns home to the Yuengling Center for its second regular-season meeting with Rice on Wednesday, Feb. 7. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. and will stream live on ESPN+. The game has been selected as an American Showcase game by the conference and the broadcast features an all-women broadcast crew for National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

AAC BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TICKETS

For the fourth consecutive year, The American’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships will be contested at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Both Championships expand to 14 teams this season with the Women’s Championship running March 9-13. Ticket packages for the Women’s Championship will be $85 per package. South Florida women’s basketball recorded its 11th 20-win season during the 2022-23 campaign. USF has made 18 postseason tournament appearances and had nine NCAA Tournament berths in head coach Jose Fernandez’s 23 seasons.
