UF WGOLF | Final Round Canceled, Gators Take Third in Spring Opener

Maisie Filler led Florida with a 3-0 record at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge.

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. – The final round of the Therese Hession Regional Challenge was canceled due to rain on Monday. Florida finishes third in the spring opener.

The No. 10 Gators were scheduled to face No. 1 and the defending national champions, Wake Forest today, but play was called before the teams could tee off. Florida finishes with a 2-1 record with victories over No. 20 Pepperdine (4-1) and No. 4 UCLA (3-2). Texas defeated UF in the semifinals yesterday 3-2.

Maisie Filler finished undefeated (3-0) on the weekend and now owns a 6-2-1 match play record. Her victory in the semifinals was against No. 21 Lauren Kim of the Longhorns.

Freshmen Inès Archer and Sophie Stevens both ended 2-1 in the first collegiate match play competition.

Florida returns to the ‘Sunshine State’ with the Moon Golf Invitational from Feb. 18-20 and the Gator Invitational March 2-3.
