American Athletic Conference Announces Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending Sunday, February 4.

Player of the Week

Danae McNeal, Gr., G, East Carolina

McNeal helped move the Pirates into one game of first place in The American with wins over Tulsa and Wichita State.  She averaged 20 points, 4.5 assists, five rebounds and 2.5 steals.  Against Wichita State, she had 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Freshman of the Week

Vittoria Blasigh, Fr., G, South Florida

Blasigh averaged 16.5 points in a pair of road wins over Memphis and UAB.  Against Memphis she had 12 points and two assists, before ending the week with a 21 point, four rebound performance against the Blazers.

Weekly Honor Roll

Dazia Lawrence, R-Jr., G, Charlotte

Lawrence scored 29 points on 10-of-19 shooting in the 88-81 win over Temple to end the week.

Romi Levy, R-Jr., F, South Florida

Levy averaged 21 points and 5.5 rebounds in a pair of wins for the Bulls over Memphis and UAB.

Chantae Embry, Jr., F, SMU

Embry scored a career-high 26 points in SMU’s win over Memphis, while adding three rebounds, two assists and two blocks.

Amira Mabry, So., F, Tulane

Mabry led the Green Wave to a pair of wins over Charlotte and UTSA, averaging 18 points and four rebounds.

Delanie Crawford, Jr., G, Tulsa

Crawford averaged 23 points, including a 31-point outburst in the 79-74 win over North Texas.
