Pendleton Named to D1 Power List

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University sophomore catcher Caleb Pendleton has been named to the 2022 D1 Baseball Preseason Player Power rankings.

The list, which rolled out on Thursday, ranks the nation’s top-50 players at each position. Pendleton, from Jensen Beach, Florida, was named No. 25 among catchers.

The power hitting catcher earned the recognition following a headline-grabbing freshman campaign, which began in spectacular and historical fashion. In his debut, Pendleton hit two grand slams -in the same inning- in his first two collegiate at bats on Feb. 20 against UCF. He bookended his freshman campaign with 4-for-5 effort against Middle Tennessee in the C-USA Tournament, hitting two home runs, knocking in three and scoring three. Pendleton finished the year with eight home runs, 24 RBI, starting 28 of 31 games played behind the dish. Prior to that fateful February night, he was best known for his arm and that reputation continued throughout the season as the backstop threw out eight base runners trying to steal, holding said runners to a success rate of just 68%.
