TAMPA, FEB. 28, 2020 – The USF women’s sailing team stays close to home for its second event of the spring, competing, in St. Petersburg at this weekend’s Eckerd Intersectional.

The coed event will feature 18 schools. USF will be fielding the only all-freshman team in the intersectional which will stack up as an interesting matchup against diverse teams: NC State, Boston College, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami, UC Santa Barbara, Princeton, and Texas.

Conditions for Saturday are ideal, with winds gusting in the 11-18 knot range, and temperature’s barely reaching 60 degrees.

“Fielding an-all freshman team is always a challenge, but these four competitors have been working very hard in practice and I expect their effort to pay off. While everyone wants to win every regatta, I think it will be a great learning experience for us, racing against teams from all over the country, and a top-five finish is definitely achievable,” said head coach Allison Jolly.
