TAMPA, FLA., FEB. 28, 2020 – The USF men’s basketball team embarks on its final road trip of the regular season on Sunday at noon when the Bulls travel to Philadelphia, Pa., to face Temple at the Liacouras Center.

USF (12-16, 5-10) returned to its winning ways on Wednesday with a 73-68 overtime win against East Carolina behind 18 points and nine rebounds from junior guard Justin Brown (Atlanta). Brown connected on a season-high four 3-pointers and is shooting 41.4 percent from beyond the arc of the last five games. In addition, Brown is averaging 20.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game over the last two games.

Sophomore forward Michael Durr (Atlanta) tied his career high with 15 points to go along with eight rebounds, one assist and one steal. Durr, who leads the team with 6.1 rebounds per game, has scored in double figures in back-to-back games.

Senior Laquincy Rideau (West Palm Beach, Fla.) poured in 14 points, three rebounds, five assists and one steal Wednesday against the Pirates. Rideau averages 12.7 points per game and ranks second in the league in steals (2.4 spg) and fourth in assists (4.0 apg).

Junior David Collins (Youngstown, Ohio) leads USF with 13.9 points per game while ranking 19th in the NCAA with 184 free throw attempts. Collins recently moved into 10th place on USF’s all-time scoring list and needs 21 more points to tie Hakim Shahid for ninth with 1,252 career points.

THE OPPONENT
Temple (14-14, 6-9) has lost two consecutive games and leads USF in the league standings by just one game. The Owls dropped a 72-69 decision Thursday at Wichita State to fall to 4-7 on the road this season. At home, however, Temple has won its last three league games at the Liacouras Center and is 8-5 overall in Philadelphia.

Senior guard Quinton Rose leads Temple with 16.4 points per game and is currently the all-time leading scorer in the American Athletic Conference. Junior guard Nate Pierre-Louis stands second on the team with 11.5 points per game to go along with a team-high 8.3 rebounds per game.

QUOTABLE
USF Head Coach Brian Gregory on the matchup at Temple:
“This will be a great challenge for us on the road. The last two games we’ve played against them went to overtime and we’re decided by two points or less. They were both great college basketball games, really epic battles. Quinton Rose is the all-time leading scorer in this conference and he’s just a tremendous, tremendous basketball player. Nate Pierre-Louis is one of my favorite players in the league because of how hard he plays. They’ve got a very talented team, and our guards are going to have to matchup really well against their guards. We have to go a great job of taking care of the basketball, and we need to build on the momentum that we got the other night against East Carolina.”
