Wilcox Earns NFL Combine Invite

Bulls all-time tight end record holder headed to Indianapolis

TAMPA, FEB. 7, 2020 – USF record-setting tight end Mitchell Wilcox (Tarpon Springs) has been invited to participate in the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis ahead of April’s NFL Draft.

Wilcox, who left USF holding nearly every tight end record and ranking 10th on the Bulls career receiving yards list, was among 337 players invited to the Combine held Feb. 24-March 1 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Wilcox was among 20 tight ends, two from The American and five from non-autonomy conferences, invited to the Combine.

Tight ends are set to work out on Thurs., Feb. 27. Workouts have been moved to the afternoon and prime time slots this year to allow for a larger television viewing audience. The Combine will be televised by the NFL Network.

Select draft-eligible prospects receive an invitation every year to converge on Indianapolis, where they are put through medical evaluations, team interviews, measurements and position drills in front of all 32 NFL teams. The NFL Scouting Combine is one of the few events in the league’s calendar year when all team general managers, coaching staffs, player personnel departments and NFL agents are located in close proximity.

Wilcox finished his USF career with 100 receptions (11th all-time) for 1,326 yards (10th all-time) and 11 touchdowns (tied for 8th all-time). He led the Bulls with 28 receptions, 350 receiving yards and five touchdown catches in 2019, earning all-conference honors for the third time on his career with an  honorable-mention recognition in 2019 after gaining first team in 2018 and second team in 2016.

Wilcox owns all the career receiving marks for USF tight ends and also set USF season tight end records with 43 catches for 540 yards in 2018 and his five touchdown catches in 2019. His eight catches vs. Illinois in 2018 also set the tight end game record for receptions.
