Morgan, Thomas-Oliver Earn Invites to NFL Combine

MIAMI (Feb. 7, 2020) – The NFL released the list of players invited to the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine on Friday, as the pair of James Morgan and Stantley Thomas-Oliver III made the list.

Morgan and Thomas-Oliver become the seventh and eighth players overall at FIU to earn invites to the NFL Scouting Combine. The most recent Panther was Jonnu Smith in 2017. Morgan and Thomas-Oliver are the first players from their positions (quarterback and cornerback) to earn invites at FIU.

A total of 337 prospects are invited to attend the annual event, which will take place in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium from Feb. 24 through March 1.

Morgan earned the Pat Tillman Award prior to his successful week at the East-West Shrine Game, gaining national buzz from media and scouts. The QB led the Panthers to back-to-back bowl games, throwing for 40 career touchdowns at FIU to rank third all-time for the program. Morgan racked up over 5,000 career passing yards at FIU in just two seasons to also rank third, while his 143.4 passer rating with the Panthers set a new school record.

Thomas-Oliver impressed many NFL scouts following his collegiate career, earning invites to the East-West Shrine Game, Tropical Bowl and Hula Bowl. The corner earned back-to-back All-Conference USA honors as a defensive back, while also earning conference laurels as a wide receiver in his first year at FIU.

After going to a school-record third-straight bowl game last year, the Panthers will seek to continue that winning tradition in 2020 as Butch Davis and the Panthers open the season at home on Thursday, Sept. 3 against Jacksonville State. For the full schedule release, click here.
