Week 2 Postgame Notes: Jaguars at Titans

Jacksonville fell to 1-1 after a 33-30 loss to Tennessee and will return home to play the Dolphins on Thursday Night Football in Week 3. 

Head Coach Doug Marrone will be available to media at 2 p.m. tomorrow via Microsoft Teams.  

MINSHEW MANIA ENSUES: QB Gardner Minshew II threw for 339 yards and three TDs, becoming the first QB in franchise history to throw for at least three TDs in three consecutive games, dating back to Week 17 of the 2019 season. 

It marked the third 300-yard performance of Minshew’s career andse completed at least three passes to eight different receivers. 

Through two games, Minshew is tied for the most passing TDs in the NFL.  

TOUCHDOWN TYLER: In the first quarter, QB Gardner Minshew II found TE Tyler Eifert for a 19-yard TD pass on third-and-10. It marked Eifert’s 25th career TD reception, and his first since signing with the Jaguars in free agency this spring. The TD drive was set up by a 45-yard completion from Minshew to WR DJ Chark Jr., which brought the Jaguars down to the Titans’ 19-yard line. The 45-yard completion to Chark was the Jaguars’ longest offensive play from scrimmage in 2020, and was the second-longest completion of Chark’s career (69-yard completion against Kansas City in Week 1 of the 2019 season).  

RUMBLIN’ ROBINSON: Undrafted rookie RB James Robinson scored his first career TD and totaled a team-high 120 scrimmage yards (102 rushing, 18 receiving) in his second career game. Robinson is the Jaguars leading rusher through two games and his 164 rushing yards are the most through a player’s first two career games in franchise history. 

COLE FOR 6: WR Keelan Cole Sr. caught six passes for 58 yards and a TD, marking his third consecutive game with a receiving TD. Through two games, Cole is the team leader in receptions (11) and has posted 105 receiving yards and two TDs. 

VERSATILE VISKA: Rookie WR LaViska Shenault Jr. totaled 72 scrimmage yards (35 receiving and 37 rushing) in today’s game. In two games this season, Shenault has registered 74 receiving yards and 47 rushing yards and one TD.  

CAPTAIN JACK: LB Myles Jack posted double-digit tackles (11) for the second time this season and posted at least five tackles for the 11th consecutive game. Jack has a team-leading 22 tackles this season. 

KEEP SWIPING: DE/LB K’Lavon Chaisson recorded his first career NFL sack when he brought Titans QB Ryan Tannehill on third-and-9 to force a Tennessee punt. Chaisson, a first-round pick (20th overall) in the 2020 NFL Draft, finished his LSU career (2017-19) with 92 tackles, 19 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks, including a career-high 6.5 sacks in 2019. He played 46 snaps and posted two tackles in Jacksonville’s season opener against Indianapolis.
