CORNERBACK KRISTIAN FULTON

(on getting his first career interception in his first home game)

It was a great experience. Obviously, we wish we would have had the fans to keep us up, the energy, but it felt great to get the pick. First NFL pick. Glad it came early in my career. Just have to come back and keep getting better every week.

(on the defense shutting down Jacksonville on late drives)

That’s something you have to be built for. We all talked on the sidelines, like we have to step it up, make a play for the offense. They’ve been doing their job.

(on what he saw on the play that led to the pick)

I was just doing my job, doing what I do. I saw the ball in the air and grabbed it and tried to make a play to put us in good field position.

KICKER STEPHEN GOSTKOWSKI

(on the kick at the end of the first half)

It was surprising to get that kick. You always have to stay ready. You have to take advantage of the opportunities you get. Luckily I was able to do that at the end of the half and the end of the game.

(on making a game-winning kick for the second week in a row)

It was a great situation to be put in. We had the lead most of the game. It was tied at the end, and to get a chance to win at the end of the game, that’s what you practice for. Luckily we were able to come through today. It’s exciting to get the win and get the Titans to 2-0.

WIDE RECEIVER COREY DAVIS

(on what he saw on his touchdown catch)

We had the look that we wanted, were looking for all week. I knew I had to win, and I had to get open quick. That’s what I did. I ended up going over the top of the DB. Ryan (Tannehill) put it in a perfect spot, all I had to do was go get it.

(on the flow of the offense today)

We were moving the ball. That’s what happens when we’re just being us. Obviously we had some self-inflicted wounds we have to clean up, a lot of things we have to clean up in the run game and the passing game, but overall we were moving the ball well. It’s a good win.

(on quarterback Ryan Tannehill’s performance)

Ryan (Tannehill)’s always poised, which is good to have a quarterback in the huddle that’s calm and collected. He’s always telling us, ‘It’s one play at a time,’ and that’s what we did. We went out there and made it happen.

GUARD RODGER SAFFOLD

(on the offense)

I think it just really came down to playing complementary football. We were able to make plays. Everybody was doing their job, doing the right thing. I think that because we have somewhat of a calmness about us, that allows us to overcome some adversities that we have going against us – a series of false starts and miscommunications here and there that we were able to overcome. If you can do that consistently, you can start seeing us put more and more points up on the board. I think there was a lot of confidence, but also an understanding of what the situation is where we can go and attack it effectively.

(on Ryan Tannehill’s composure)

Well, Ryan (Tannehill) is so critical of himself. Last game he thought that it wasn’t good enough for himself and for us and he really went to work all week, and then you start seeing him really putting some throws together, confidence-builders through the play action, and then once he gets his number called being able to make really big time contested throws. He was able to do that. He threw that ball where he got hit in the chest, and he’s probably going to get mad that I said this, but he got up and he said ‘And One.’ I mean, that’s what you want to hear out of your quarterback. You want to hear that competitive nature coming from him so we can constantly see him improve and succeed.

(on the team’s confidence after two weeks with game-winning drives)

It’s a great feeling, but we also know there’s a ton that needs to be corrected and that’s what is helping this team out. We’re constantly staying hungry. We understand that these first few games are going to be like this because there were no preseason games. We really have to depend on ourselves to be able to gain momentum, to get energy back into the stadium, and I’m glad that we’ve been able to do that consistently. We’re constantly working on two minutes and it’s winning us the game. So, I don’t think that we’re going to stop here.

TIGHT END ANTHONY FIRKSER

(on the third-down conversions)

We knew we had to get the chains moving on third down and convert. We diagnosed the coverage and got to the right spot, and Ryan (Tannehill) was able to make a throw, and I just had to complete the catch.

(on quarterback Ryan Tannehill’s poise)

Ryan (Tannehill)’s always confident and trusts our guys. We work all the time in practice getting everyone involved, and that’s our goal in the game – getting everyone touches and have threats all over the field.

WIDE RECEIVER CAMERON BATSON

(on being on the field and making big plays after spending 2019 on injured reserve)

It’s been a long road, man. I’m just grateful for the opportunity to go out there and showcase my God-given talent and ability.

(on the offense’s composure)

We work on that in practice, so perfect practice prevents piss-poor performance. We just went out there and did what we do on a day to day basis.

(on his catches today)

Just good technique, O-line did a great job holding up. Ryan (Tannehill) did a great job of getting in there and delivering me the ball, so all glory be to God.

DEFENSIVE LINEMAN JEFFERY SIMMONS

(on making stops on the last two drives)

I think that’s what we focus on. We did these with a next-play mentality. Of course we want to get off the field on third down, but at the same time its pro level. Guys make plays but we want to eliminate big plays like that, especially on third-and-long. We got them in that type of situation, so we’re just going to learn from it. Like I said, those last two drives were big for us. We got off the field, especially at the end with a turnover. That won the game.

(on tipping the pass on the ball outside linebacker Harold Landry intercepted)

We know that especially in that type of situation, that we’re rushing like three or four, so you know somebody’s going to get doubled. That play for sure I got doubled and I wasn’t going to get too much penetration, and I knew the quarterback, he’s short, so we got our hands up. Something that we preach is affect the quarterback’s timing of his throws.

(on the offense’s performance)

Props to our offense. Giving up 30 points, that’s something for sure we’ll have to talk about. We talked about it before, we have to have our offense’s back and the offense has to have our back. Props to them coming out, starting fast. Of course, the defense, we want to start a little faster. We started off kind of fast, but we, I think, we got a little relaxed. That’s just the game of football. We’re going to come back and learn from it. Once we’re up on guys we just want to keep our foot on their necks.
