Fort Worth, Texas – March. 11, 2024 – Freshman guard Vittoria Blasigh put up 23 points in South Florida women’s basketball’s (19-14) 58-56 loss to UTSA (17-13) in the quarterfinals of the AAC Tournament at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
Senior forward Evelien Lutje Schipholt added a 13-point and 13-rebound double-double, which marked her ninth of the campaign. Redshirt junior Romi Levy (11 points, eight rebounds, two assists and steals) collected her 24th double-digit performance of the season. Senior guard Aerial Wilson dished out a team-high six assists.
HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDED
Blasigh’s third final 3-pointer of the day came with a minute to go in the third frame, which put the Bulls up 45-40 to UTSA.
The Roadrunners opened the final frame with nine straight points, holding the Bulls scoreless for nearly three minutes. In the remaining seven minutes of gametime, it was a tightly contested battle, as USF outscored UTSA 11-9. Sophomore forward Daniela Gonzalez scored her entire seven points of the game in that stretch, and even had the final 3-point basket of the day.
With 1.1 seconds put back on the clock, Lutje Schipholt attempted a field goal off an inbounds play from Wilson but was unsuccessful as the game expired.
NOTABLE NUMBERS
- Wilson (6 assists) joined the 500-career assist club with 501 total assists in her career. She is the sixth performer in the AAC to dish our 500 or more career assists.
- The Bulls are now 18-10 in the American Conference Tournament.
- Blasigh collared her 7th 20-plus point performance of the season.
- Blasigh’s 23 points were a single point shy of matching the freshman record for points in an AAC tournament game (24 points, Madison Griggs, Memphis vs SMU, 2020).
- The Bulls are now 7-4 when three performers score in double-figures.
- Blasigh’s 77 3-pointers is now tied with Angie Snyder (1991-92) in seventh on the program’s single-season 3-pointers made index.

- The quarterfinal showdown featured 12 ties coupled with 10 lead changes, while neither team led by more than six points.
