FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 4 UTSA defeated No. 5 South Florida, 58-56, in the quarterfinals of the 2024 American Women’s Basketball Championship on Monday, March 11 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
With the win, the Roadrunners (17-13) move on to the semifinals in their first American Championship appearance and will face No. 9 East Carolina on Tuesday, March 12 at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT.
UTSA shot 66.7 percent (8-of-12) in the final quarter and outscored the Bulls (19-14), 18-11, in the final frame. Jordyn Jenkins gave UTSA the lead for good with 6:01 remaining. South Florida had a chance in the last seconds, but Evelien Lutje Schipholt’s contested shot did not fall.
Jordyn Jenkins led the Roadrunners with 20 points and six rebounds off the bench, while Kyra White had nine points and seven assists.
Vittoria Blasigh led the Bulls with 23 points, while Lutje Schipholt added a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
