USF Softball: USF Softball Welcomes North Texas for Conference Series

The Bulls and Mean Green will go against each other for the first time.


TAMPA, March 27, 2024– After a six-game road stand, the University of South Florida softball team will welcome the North Texas Mean Green for a conference series this Thursday through Saturday.

This weekend will be the first time the Bulls and Mean Green will go head-to-head in program history. It is the second time this season that South Florida has welcomed an opponent for the first time. During the opening weekend, South Florida faced Oregon State for the first time.

As a staff, the Bulls lead the American Athletic Conference with a 2.31 ERA. Individually, Payton Dixon (Smyrna, Del.) is atop the conference with a 1.36 ERA. She also leads in innings pitched (98.0), shutouts (3), and strikeouts (93).

Olivia Elliott (Tampa) continues to be the toughest batter to strike out in the American. In her 83 plate appearances, she has only struck out twice.  

Alexa Galligani (White Plains, N.Y.) is on a four-game hitting streak. Her longest this season is five games. Galligani has reached base in eight straight games, the longest for the sophomore this season.

  • Cierra Simon leads the Mean Green at the plate, posting a .351 batting average. She leads with 26 hits in her 74 at-bats.
