NORTH TEXAS WALKING IT OFF

The North Texas Mean Green stayed in a tie for first place after a hard-fought weekend series against Tulsa.  North Texas used three walk-offs to sweep the Golden Hurricane and improve to 8-1 in The American. North Texas won the first two games of the series 1-0, both coming off walk-off home runs. The Mean Green overcame a two-run deficit in the final game, scoring three runs in the final two innings to win 3-2.

FLORIDA ATLANTIC REMAINS AT THE TOP
Florida Atlantic used a second straight conference series sweep to stay tied at the top of The American, winning three road games in Memphis last weekend. The Owls have won eight straight games and nine of their last ten games.  Florida Atlantic is receiving votes in the ESPN.com/USA Today Poll and are ranked No. 25 in the Softball America poll.

SHOCKERS WIN SIXTH STRAIGHT

Wichita State has improved to 7-2 in The American and sit just one game out of first place after sweeping the last two conference series.  The Shockers are coming off a series sweep of UTSA where they allowed just two runs all series. CC Wong earned American Player of the Week honors, hitting .625, slugging 2.125 and knocking in 11 RBI.

CLOSING IT OUT

The American features two pitchers who are in the top ten in the NCAA in saves.  Florida Atlantic’s Ainsley Lambert and South Florida’s Belle Sardja are tied for 8th in the NCAA with four saves each.  They are both just two saves behind the national leaders.

AMERICAN IN THE RPI

Eight of the ten American Athletic Conference programs are ranked in the Top 100 in the NCAA RPI. Wichita State (34) and Charlotte (38) lead the league and are ranked in the Top 40. The American is the 6th ranked conference in the country.
