USF SOFTBALL: Bulls Open Tournament Play Against Memphis

Two-seed USF plays the seven-seed Tigers on Thursday

TAMPA, Fla. May 6, 2021 – The University of South Florida softball team begins its postseason play with an American Athletic Conference first round matchup against Memphis on May 13 at 3 p.m. ET.

USF finished the regular season with a 28-16 record, including a 16-7 record in conference play. Georgina Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) was named American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year for the third consecutive year and joined AnaMarie Bruni (Schwenksville, Pa.) on the AAC All-Conference First Team. Megan Pierro (Lutz, Fla.) and Alexis Johns (Sarasota, Fla.) were named to the All-Conference Second Team.


Opponent

Memphis finished the regular season with a 9-40 record and a 2-22 record in conference play. USF swept the regular season series against Memphis, including two run-rule victories in six innings to open conference play.

Alyssa Dean leads the Tigers on offense, hitting .302 in 126 at bats with 24 runs and 19 RBIs this season. Kendall Lee leads Memphis with 27 RBIs, and adds a .291 average and five home runs to her totals. In the circle, Mariah Nichols has thrown the most innings for Memphis this year, tossing a 7.04 ERA in 93.1 innings.
