USF Baseball: Bulls drop series opener to Northeastern

Bobby Boser hit his third home run of the season in a 15-3 loss on Friday night.

TAMPA (March 3, 2023) – The University of South Florida Bulls (3-7) opened a three-game weekend series with a 15-3 loss in seven innings to Northeastern University (6-1) on Friday night at USF Baseball Stadium.

Bobby Boser (Wesley Chapel) got the scoring started with his third home run of the season in the bottom of the first inning. The lead was short-lived, however, as Northeastern knotted the score at 1-1 in the top of the second.

The Huskies added four runs in the fourth to stretch their lead to 5-1. The Bulls slashed their deficit to 5-3 with an RBI-double by John Montes (Tao Alto, Puerto Rico) in the bottom of the fourth and an RBI-single by Drew Brutcher (Lakeland) in the fifth.

Northeastern blew the game open with six runs in the sixth with a pair of home runs which included five unearned runs crossing the plate. The Huskies tacked on four more runs in the seventh inning to account for the final score.
