USF Announces 2019 Men’s Soccer Schedule

USF opens the season on the road versus reigning national champion Maryland, and will play 12 matches at Corbett Stadium, including key games against Louisville, Ohio State, and Marquette.

TAMPA, June 7, 2019—USF men’s soccer head coach Bob Butehorn has announced an 18-game schedule for the 2019 season, including the season opener at the home of reigning national champion, Maryland.

USF will play in two home exhibition contests on Aug. 17 (Eastern Florida) and the Rowdies Cup on Aug. 24 (University of Tampa), before traveling to College Park to take on Maryland.

The Bulls will host their home opener on Sept. 6 against Marquette.

Three other opponents on USF’s 2019 schedule finished last season ranked in the top 25, including conference foe UConn, Lipscomb, and Louisville. South Florida will face Lipscomb, who reached the NCAA round of 16 last year, on Sept. 13 in Nashville, before returning home to host Ohio State on Sept. 17. In 2018, the Bulls defeated Ohio State, 1-0, in Columbus, Ohio.

The Bulls will travel to take on North Florida on Sept. 24, before returning home for the conference opener against UConn on Sept. 27. USF will host another in-state foe in FGCU on Oct. 1, before continuing conference play on the road against Tulsa on Oct.5.

USF will return home on Oct. 11 to host SMU, and then host Jacksonville, both at Corbett Stadium, at 7 p.m. The Bulls will hit the road for a match at Temple (Oct. 18), before returning home for three straight games in Tampa.

The Bulls will host FIU (Oct. 22), War on I-4 opponent UCF (Oct. 26), and close the home season with Cincinnati (Nov. 1). USF will end the season on Nov. 5 on the road against Memphis.

Butehorn, who returns for his third season at the helm, is known for putting together challenging non-conference schedules in preparation for the tough AAC games. Butehorn will welcome a freshman class of seven members, including Ignasi Lupon Fores (Barcelona, Spain), Vinicius Loureiro (Fortaleza, Brazil), Salvatore Mazzaferro (Caledon East, Ontario, Canada), Sergio Pinero-Mayorga (Tampa), Cooper Blay (Gainesville, Fla.), Braden Ammon (Orange Park, Fla.), and Victor Claudel (Strasbourg, France).

Ticketing information for men’s soccer will be available at a later date.
