UF WSWIM & Dive: Gators Open Up at No. 10 in First CSCAA Poll

Florida will open up the new campaign against No. 4 Georgia next Friday at 10:00 a.m.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida women’s swimming and diving team has been voted the No. 10 team in the opening College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Top 25 Poll released on Thursday.

A year ago, the Gators started off the season with the same ranking before moving all the way up to the top spot on Oct. 23 thanks to a scorching 5-0 start. The team would remain ranked No. 1 until the middle of December. Ultimately, the Gators would finish as the No. 7 team with an overall dual meet record of 8-1 heading into the 2020 Southeastern Conference Championships that saw them earn their second-consecutive runner-up finish, a first since the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

The 2020-21 squad will return 23 letterwinners from last season, including eight CSCAA All-Americans, four All-SEC members and a pair of All-Freshman honorees. 12 newcomers will look to make an immediate impact on a program that lost 13 seniors to graduation a season ago.

The Gators will head to No. 4 Georgia next Friday, Oct. 30 to open up the 2020-21 season in a top-10 conference dual meet in Athens, Ga. inside Gabrielsen Natatorium. The first event is slated to kick things off at 10:00 a.m. Live meet results will be made available through the MeetMobile app, as well as Georgia’s website.

The University of Georgia and Gabrielsen Natatorium are still evaluating and determining meet day procedures, such as allowing spectators. Finalized guidelines are expected to be announced in the near future.
