UF MSWIM & DIVE: Gators Land at No. 3 in Preseason CSCAA Poll

Florida will travel to Athens, Ga. next Friday for their season-opener against the No. 8 Bulldogs.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida men’s swimming and diving team will head into its season opener next Friday as the third-ranked team in the Preseason College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Top 25 poll.

Florida currently sits as the highest ranked team in the Southeastern Conference, as there is a total of six other SEC teams in the opening poll. Last year, the Gators began the season ranked at No. 7 and would move up one spot to No. 6 on Nov. 13, their highest ranking of the season. Just prior to their eighth-straight SEC title on Feb. 22, 2020, the team settled into No. 11 in the final CSCAA poll of 2019-20.

25 letterwinners return to the water this year for UF, highlighted by 12 CSCAA All-Americans, 10 All-SEC honorees and three All-Freshman from last year’s campaign. Florida will bolster their roster with 16 newcomers, replacing 11 graduating seniors from a season ago.

The Gators will travel to Athens, Ga. on Oct. 30 to take on the No. 8 Georgia Bulldogs in a top-10, SEC dual meet at 2:00 p.m. Meet results will be made available through the MeetMobile app, as well as Georgia’s website.

The University of Georgia and Gabrielsen Natatorium are still evaluating and determining meet day procedures, such as allowing spectators. Finalized guidelines are expected to be announced in the near future.
