Low Round of the Day Moves Gators to Third, Filler Remains Leader
Maisie Filler continues to lead the Moon Golf Invitational, improving her advantage to five shots.

MELBOURNE, Fla. – It was a moving day for the Florida women’s golf team at the Moon Golf Invitational on Monday. The No. 8 Gators shot a round score of 288 (E) to jump into third place as Maisie Filler continues to be the individual leader.

Battling the rain and wind to start the round, Florida had the lowest round of the round by two shots. In tomorrow’s final round UF will be paired with first-place Auburn (-3) and LSU (-3) along with fourth-place Northwestern (+7). It will be a shotgun start at 9 a.m. at Suntree Country Club.

Continuing to hold her individual lead was Filler. She recorded her second consecutive round of under par with a 69 (-3) own a four-shot lead into the final 18 holes. Over her 36-holes, the senior has made 23 pars, 11 birdies (tournament-high) and 2 bogeys. The Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. native seeks her third victory of the season to become the eighth Gator golfer to win three medalist honors in a season.

Inès Archer (T73) and Jackie Lucena (T31) both bounced back with improved rounds this afternoon. Lucena posted a 72 (E) that featured a bogey-free back nine of 1-under for a four-shot improvement. The freshman, Archer, closed her outing strong with back-to-back birdies on hole six (par-4, 350) and seven (par-3, 160) for a 74 (+2), a shit-shot difference from round one.

After a bogey on her second hole, Paula Francisco regrouped and would par the final 16 holes for a 1-over 73. The freshman is tied for 18th with a score of 145 (+1).

The third freshman in the lineup is Sophie Stevens in T84.
