UF WGOLF | Filler Placed on ANNIKA Award Spring Watch List

The award is annually given to the top female Division 1 collegiate golfer.

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Florida women’s golfer Maisie Filler earned a spot on the first ANNIKA Award Spring Watch List, Golfweek and Golf Channel announced Monday.

Created in 2014, the award is annually given to the top female Division 1 collegiate golfer; the winner voted on by players, coaches and members of the college golf media. Florida is one of five schools (Auburn, Ole Miss, Stanford, Vanderbilt) to have a golfer on each top-collegiate golfer award as UF men’s golfer Ian Gilligan was named to the Haskins Award Spring Watch List today.

Filler, who is the No. 1 ranked player in the NCAA Rankings, has continued to dominate her senior season. She started the spring with third-consecutive medalist honors in a stroke play event at the Moon Golf Invitational, a T3 finish in the Gators Invitational and a 3-0 match play record against three ranked teams. Filler has also claimed three SEC Golfer of the Week awards this season.

In six stroke play tournaments this season, Filler has finished T39-T2-1-1-1-T3 (in order of events). She also has finished even par or better for the tournament with five outings under par (-13, -9, -8, -4, -3). Of her 18 rounds, 11 have been under par, five at even par and just three over par.

She had a dominant fall with back-to-back victories to close it out, helping lead the Gators to three-straight victories to close out the first half of the season. Filler currently leads the Gators in nearly every statistical category and ranks second in stroke average in the SEC with a 69.4. She is one of two golfers in the nation (Furman’s Anna Morgan) who has three solo victories this season.

The Palm Beach Gardens native, won her first collegiate victory at Tar Heel Invitational and her second at The Ally. Both performances wrote her name into the record books. Filler shot a 54-hole score of 203 (-13), which tied the second-lowest individual tournament score in program history for the second time in her career – one stroke away from the record of LPGA Tour Player Sam Wagner set in 2016. Her opening round of a bogey-free 64 (-8), marked the second-lowest in program history and was two away from the program low of 62 set by Sierra Brooks.

In the final fall outing at The Ally, Filler shot a final round of 66 (-6) for her team-best eighth under par round this season and fifth out of six career rounds in the 60s at Old Waverly. The team victory at the tournament was the 31st all-time under head coach Emily Glaser; 32nd total as she was an assistant coach for a season in 2011-12. Florida last won three events in a season in 2015-16 and is the fifth occurrence under Glaser. It marks the most team titles since the 2019-20 season when the Gators last won by double-digits at the Allstate Sugar Bowl by 13.

The Gators begin to wrap up the regular season with the Briar’s Creek Invitational (March 11-12) and the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic (March 29-30).
