GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida women’s basketball will open Southeastern Conference play at home this Thursday, Dec. 29, when the Tennessee Lady Volunteers head to town for a 6 p.m. ET matchup inside Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center.

The game will be streamed live on SEC Network+ with Kyle Crooks and Brittany Davis on the call. Tom Collett and Kelly Davis will handle radio responsibilities on 98.1FM/850AM WRUF.

SERIES HISTORY
The Gators and Lady Vols meet for the 60th time on Thursday evening, with Tennessee holding a 54-5 advantage. Florida earned its largest win over Tennessee last season, defeating the Lady Vols, 84-59 in Gainesville.

AGAINST THE LADY VOLS
Last season, Florida earned their largest victory over Tennesse, while handing the Lady Vols their worst loss to an unranked team, with an 84-59 victory in Exactech Arena. If the Gators manage to defeat Tennessee on Thursday evening, it would mark the first time in program history that UF has won two-consecutive games against the SEC foe.

SEC OPENERS
Florida holds a 19-25 record all-time in SEC lidlifters and has dropped eight-consecutive SEC openers. The Gators are 7-15 in openers played on the road and 12-10 in Gainesville. The Gators’ last win in an SEC opener came on Jan. 2, 2014 when they posted an 82-72 win vs. Mississippi State at home.

COUNTDOWN TO 800
Florida women’s basketball is closing in on their 800th victory as a program, currently holding 799 during their 49-year history. When the Gators accomplish the feat, they will be the 13th SEC to cross the 800-win threshold, with Mississippi State also chasing the accomplishment, owning 775 victories as a program entering the 2022-23 season.

KK’S 1K
Florida senior guard, KK Deans, is closing in on her 1,000th career point. The West Virginia transfer recorded 788 points with the Mountaineers and currently holds 188 points on the season with the Gators, pushing her career total to 976. She would be the second 1,000-point scorer on the roster, as Leilani Correa scored 1,272 points in her three seasons at St. John’s.

60: THE MAGIC NUMBER
Under the leadership of Kelly Rae Finley, Florida’s defense will always be a point of emphasis. Helping to prove that point, the Gators own a perfect 20-0 mark under Finely when holding opponents to 60 points or less.

STRONG START
The Gators, who started with an 11-1 mark through 12 games, began the year with the best start to a season since the 2015-16 campaign when they opened 12-1. The best start to a season in program history came during the 2008-09 campaign when they began 15-1.
