T’ara Ceasar was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Elli McKissock earned Defensive Player of the Week honors
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After picking up two wins over LSU last week, two Gators earned SEC Player of the Week honors, as the league announced Monday.
Redshirt junior T’ara Ceasar was named Offensive Player of the Week – her first such honor this season. Freshman Elli McKissock picked up her first SEC weekly honor after being named Defensive Player of the Week.
Ceasar led the way offensively for the Gators in both matches against LSU, tallying a total of 34 kills across seven sets. Over the two matches, she recorded 5.29 points per set, 4.86 kills per set, 3.14 digs per set and a .356 clip.
On Feb. 11, Ceasar posted a season-high 20 kills and season-best 15 digs for her third double-double of the year. She also registered a .425 clip in the match, to go along with two aces and one assist.
In the match on Feb. 10, Ceasar recorded 14 kills, seven digs, two assists and one ace en route to sweeping the Tigers.
McKissock led the backcourt defense for Florida, averaging a stellar 6.57 digs per set over the course of the two matches. The 6.57 digs per set almost doubled her previous output for the season (3.58).
Against LSU on Feb. 10, the freshman recorded a career-high 24 digs in the three-setter. That mark was the third-highest total in a three-set match in program history (rally-scoring era). The Windemere, Fla. native tallied a career-high two service aces in the match as well.
She responded the following night with another 20+ dig performance, registering 22 digs in the four-setter. McKissock also posted four assists and one kill, as well as tied her career-high with two service aces in the match.
The Gators are back in action for a two-match series with Mississippi State, beginning on Feb. 19 in Starkville, Miss.
