The junior middle blocker averaged 2.17 blocks per set in two matches against the Razorbacks
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After picking up two sweeps over Arkansas this past weekend, Lauren Dooley was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week, as the league announced Monday.
This is the second-straight weekly honor for the junior middle blocker, who also earned Defensive Player of the Week honors on March 1 for her performance against Tennessee.
Dooley – the SEC blocks leader – averaged 2.17 blocks per set in the two matches against Arkansas, while also hitting .412 with seven kills.
In the first match against the Razorbacks, the Plano, Texas native was a defensive force at the net, recording eight blocks, to go along with four kills, one assist and one dig.
The junior rounded out her series stats with a five-block, three-kill performance on Saturday evening.
Currently, Dooley is ranked seventh in the nation and first in the conference with 1.57 blocks per set.
The Gators return to the court on Friday when the Missouri Tigers head to town for a two-match series. Friday’s first serve is slated for 1 p.m., while Saturday’s match will begin at 4 p.m. – both airing on the SEC Network +.
