Alida van Daalen Earn SEC Women’s Freshman of the Week Honors

Alida van Daalen received SEC an weekly honor for the third time this season.

GAINESVILLE, Fla.- Florida Gator Alida van Daalen received SEC Women’s Co-Freshman of Week Honors on Tuesday afternoon. This is van Daalen, third SEC Weekly honor of the season, with all three coming during the outdoor campaign. She shares this award with Kaila Jackson of Georgia.

At the LSU Invitational this past weekend, van Daalen secured gold in the women’s discus competition with a mark of 56.86m/186’6″. She has not finished off the podium in any discus competition this season. Van Daalen earned bronze in the shot put (17.45m/57’3″), securing her third podium finish of the outdoor season in the event. She has finished on the podium every outdoor shot put competition she has competed in as a Gator.

Next up for van Daalen and the Gators is the SEC Championship on May 11-13 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
