UF MGOLF: No. 15 Florida Concludes Regular Season in Naples

The No. 15 Florida men’s golf team will head to Naples, Fla. to compete in the inaugural Calusa Cup.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida men’s golf team will travel to Naples, Fla. this weekend to compete in the Calusa Cup, hosted by the University of Iowa. In the regular season finale, the Gators will compete against in a nine-team field, including five teams touting top-15 marks in the collegiate GolfStat rankings.

Format
This three-day tournament will feature 54 holes of stroke play with one round being held each day. Tee times will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday and Monday, with first tee shots beginning at 8 a.m. ET on Tuesday.

Course Information
The tournament is being held at the Par 72, 7,203-yard Calusa Pines Golf Club. A highly intensive private club, Calusa Pines is ranked the fifth best course in Florida. Designed by Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry, the elite course boasts mature Oak Trees and deep ridges that mature the course past its 2001 opening.

Tournament History
On January 6, 2020, the University of Iowa announced the inaugural Calusa Cup. The tournament was scheduled to run from Sunday, April 5 to Tuesday, April 7 before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down collegiate sports.

This will be the first time the tournament has been played.

Up Next
Florida will set their sights on postseason play when they travel to St. Simons Island, Ga. to compete in the SEC Championship, scheduled to begin on Wednesday, April 21 and continue through Sunday, April 25.
