UF Men’s Swimming and Diving | Eight Gators Land on SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll

UF has placed eight on the First-Year Academic Honor Roll for the second-consecutive season.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Eight University of Florida men’s swimmers were named to the Southeastern Conference First-Year Academic Honor Roll, announced on Tuesday afternoon by SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey.

Dylan Brisco, Nicholas Fox, Brennan Gravley, Lucas Kravchenko, Ethan McCloud, Alfonso Mestre, Advait Page and Kevin Vargas all garner accolades for their efforts in the classroom during their first year in Gainesville.

Additionally, the team was named a College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team for achieving a team GPA of over 3.0.

In the pool, the team continued their conference championship streak, extending their consecutive SEC titles to eight. Over the five-day competition in Auburn, the Gators broke two American records, won five event titles and made 15 podium stops to ultimately tally a league-best 1,194 points.

To be recognized for the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must meet the following criteria: 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport’s entire NCAA Championship segment.
