UF LAX: Pavinelli and Finnelle Earn AAC Player of the Week Honors

Both players played key roles in the Gators victory over James Madison on Saturday.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Danielle Pavinelli and Elyse Finnelle were recognized for their stellar play this past weekend, each taking home an AAC Player of the Week honor. Florida won their 13th consecutive game, defeating No. 14 James Madison by a score of 15-7.

Pavinelli earns her fourth Attacker of the Week nod this season, and the ninth weekly award of her career. The senior led Florida offensively, totaling a team high five points on two goals and three assists. The attacker has now had five or more points in eight games this season, while having nine multi-goal games and four games of at least three assists. The Northport, N.Y. native leads the Gators in goals this season with 34, and ranks second in assists (27), and points (61). Pavinelli now has 265 career points, as she passed Kitty Cullen on Saturday for fifth on the all-time points list.

Finnelle conquers her second Goalkeeper of the Week award this season, and her second one in the past three weeks. The redshirt sophomore saved a career high 12 shots on Saturday, while only allowing seven goals to the eighth ranked scoring offense in the nation at the time. The Deale, Md. native now has three games this season with 10 or more saves, and has 49 saves on a .690 save percentage over her last seven games. Finnelle ranks first in the AAC in total save percentage at .531, and leads the Gators with 78 saves, compiling a 2-2 record on the season.

The Gators have now had a total of 15 AAC weekly awards this season, varied up among nine different players. Ninth ranked Florida (13-2, 4-0 AAC) looks to remain undefeated in conference play, as they head to Ohio this Saturday for a road matchup against Cincinnati at 12 p.m.
