American Athletic Conference Announces Softball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, April 14.

Player of the Week

Ella Chancey, Jr., INF, Charlotte

Chancey helped lead the 49ers to a sweep over UTSA, scoring a run and recording a hit in all three games.  She finished the weekend slashing .636/.667/.909 with five runs scored and six RBI. 

Pitcher of the Week

Belle Sardja, Jr., South Florida

Against of the the league’s top offense’s, Sardja held Wichita State off the scoreboard, tossing 10.2 scoreless innings across two outings, including a complete-game one-hitter.

Weekly Honor Roll

Morgan Medford, Sr., INF, North Texas

Medford recorded multiple hits in each game, including a 3-for-3 effort at the plate in the series clincher against Florida Atlantic.

McKenzie Wagoner, Sr., P, North Texas

Wagoner held a 0.54 ERA across 13.0 innings in the circle for the Mean Green. She picked up two wins against Florida Atlantic.

DaNia Brooks, Fr., INF, South Florida

Brooks slashed .583/.643/1.000 with five RBI and one run scored to help the Bulls win the series against Wichita State.

Imani Edwards, Sr., INF, Tulsa

Edwards finished with three runs scored and four RBI for Tulsa as the Golden Hurricane took the series against East Carolina.

Maura Moore, Jr., P, Tulsa

Moore earned a pair of wins against East Carolina, striking out 18 batters in 10.1 innings pitched.
