GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After an eight-game road stretch to start the 2021 season, the No. 11 Florida lacrosse team (5-2, 2-0 AAC) finally gets to open the home portion of its schedule on Friday when the Cincinnati Bearcats (4-4, 0-2 AAC) come to town for a two-game series.

Friday’s open draw is set for 4 p.m. on YouTube, while Sunday’s game is slated for a 12 p.m. start. Both games can also be heard via FloridaGators.com/watch.

Florida kicked off conference play with two victories over No. 25 Temple on March 19/21 (15-9/14-7), while Cincinnati dropped its first two league games, falling to Vanderbilt 10-8 and 16-14.

The American Athletic Conference – now in its third season – has announced a new format for the 2021 campaign, with each team playing five conference series during league play. The two-game series will take place over the course of three days, with a rest day in between games.

Scouting the Bearcats

  *   The Cincinnati Bearcats come into the series with a 4-4 record, including a 0-2 record in American Athletic Conference play
  *   The Gators own the 7-0 advantage over the Bearcats, winning the last contest 15-9 on May 4, 2019 in Cincinnati, Ohio in the AAC Tournament Championship. With the win, Florida secured the inaugural AAC tournament championship, to go along with the regular season championship they clinched a week prior
  *   Through the first eight games, Kylie Nause and Alyssa Adams both lead the way offensively with 26 goals apiece. Monica Borzillo is the team’s leading point scorer, recorded 19 goals and 15 assists for a total of 34 points. Nine other Bearcats have found the back of the net this season, six of which have at least two goals
  *   Sam Mlkvy controls the draw for Cincinnati, coming up with 52 draws on the year. Adams has added 36 draw controls of her own, while 11 other Bearcats have tallied at least one Defensively, the Bearcats are averaging 8.50 caused turnovers per game, led by 12 from Adrianna Fess
  *   Kate Brocato has seen a majority of minutes in the cage this season for Cincinnati, recording 61 saves with a .424 save percentage. She has allowed 83 goals in 426:30 and has all eight decisions for the Bearcats. Gianna Pope has recorded 53:30 in the cage, recording four saves and allowing 12 goals

  *   Florida swept the four major Preseason American Athletic Awards: Brianna Harris was named Attacker of the Year, Shannon Kavanagh was named Midfielder of the Year, Cara Trombetta was named Defensive Player of the Year and Sarah Reznick was named Goalkeeper of the Year
  *   Six Gators were named Preseason All-AAC selections: Kaitlyn Dabkowski, Brianna Harris, Grace Haus, Shannon Kavanagh, Sarah Reznick and Cara Trombetta

Fan Policies at The Diz

  *   Gators lacrosse looks to maximize fan seating while maintaining social distancing
  *   Admission at Donald R. Dizney Stadium is free and will be capped at approximately 700 fans
  *   Blocks of seats at the Diz will be marked and fans attending the games will need to sit in those marked seats to ensure proper physical distancing
  *   In accordance with UF Health and campus guidelines, face coverings (over the nose and mouth) will be required of all guests throughout the entire game. Failure to comply with this important health guideline could result in loss of attendance privileges
  *   The Diz will feature new signage to help reinforce safety measures and will also feature an increased number of hand sanitizer stations
