UF LAX | Bryant’s Emily Diaz Set to Play Fifth Year at Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida’s nationally-ranked women’s lacrosse team added an additional transfer in Emily Diaz to the 2023 squad on Thursday.

Diaz – a rising fifth year – hails from Selden, N.Y. and saw action in 38 games during her tenure at Bryant, starting 32 of them.

She has racked up 33 goals, 20 assists, 171 draw controls, 29 groundballs and 16 caused turnovers. Diaz set Bryant’s single-season draw control record during the 2022 campaign, coming up with 138.

  *   Started all 17 games for the Bulldogs
  *   Named to the All-NEC second team
  *   Set a Bryant single season record with 138 draw controls
  *   Led NEC, 7th in NCAA with 8.12 DC/game
  *   Also scored career high 13 goals, dished five assists, picked up 17 ground balls, and caused six turnovers
  *   Set a Bryant single game record with 16 draw controls at Howard on 4/9
  *   Had at least ten DC’s in five other games, including NEC semifinal vs. LIU
  *   Set career high with seven ground balls in Howard game
  *   Scored goals in six consecutive games from 4/9 to 4/30
Junior Season (2021)

  *   Played 10 games this season and started in 9 of them
  *   Posted career-highs in goals (11), assists (12), and points (23)
  *   Had three goals, eight assists, and 11 points against Merrimack (Mar 31). All were career highs
  *   Scored three goals against Wagner (Mar 13)
  *   Recorded a season-high nine draw controls vs. SHU (Apr 7)
Sophomore Season (2020)

  *   Did not appear in a game for the Bulldogs due to injury
Freshman Season (2019)

  *   Appeared in 11 games, starting six
  *   Missed six games due to injury in March and April
  *   Recorded nine goals and three assists while adding 10 draw controls, seven ground balls and six caused turnovers
  *   Tallied two-goal efforts against Niagara (3/9), Saint Francis U (4/28) and Mount St. Mary’s (5/2)
  *   Posted a goal and a career-best two assists in the Ocean State Cup win at Brown (3/6)
  *   Added career-highs of three ground balls and two caused turnovers to a two-goal day in the win over Niagara (3/9) … Recorded a career-high four draw controls in the NEC Semifinal at Mount St. Mary’s (5/2)
  *   Named to NEC Academic Honor Roll

  *   Four-year varsity member of the Wolverines
