UF BB: Jordan Carrion Tabbed SEC Co-Freshman of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Jordan Carrion has been tabbed the SEC Co-Freshman of the Week following a heroic outing in Saturday’s series-clinching win over No. 3 Ole Miss, the league office announced Monday.

Carrion helped the Gators win the series against Ole Miss with his performance at the plate and on the mound. The freshman started Saturday’s game at shortstop, batting seventh for the Gators and recording his first career homerun in the fourth inning to give Florida a 3-0 lead.
Ole Miss recorded five runs over three innings and threatened to take the lead in the top of the seventh inning with runners on first and third. Carrion was pulled from the field and immediately put on the mound, where he retired Justin Bench on a grounder to short to strand the tying run at third. He pitched a 1-2-3 eighth and recorded an out in the ninth prior to giving way to left-hander Ryan Cabarcas with two on, and one out.

Florida continues its run at home with back-to-back midweek games against Stetson and Florida A&M, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday night at 6 p.m. ET and airing on SEC Network+.
