UAB Women’s Soccer Hosts North Alabama on Sunday

BIRMINGHAM – Coming off a home-opening victory on Feb.7, the UAB women’s soccer team returns to the field on Sunday afternoon for an in-state matchup against North Alabama. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.

ABOUT UAB
The Blazers defeated Mercer 2-1 on Feb. 7. Lexxe Lipsey and Stella Kiss scored for UAB, while Anika Toth turned away a pair of shots. Lipsey is fourth in Conference USA averaging 1.25 shots on goal per game and fifth with five total SOG. Eve Beyer is first in the league averaging 5.5 saves per contest.

ABOUT UNA
The Lions opened the spring season with a 4-1 victory over WKU. Keeper Payton Yates made two stops in the win over the Hilltoppers. UNA, who was predicted to finish sixth in the ASUN Conference, is coming off a 6-11-0 2019 season.

THE SERIES VS. UNA
In the only match the Blazers and Lions have played, Kamilah Mustafa converted a pair of penalty kicks two minutes apart late in the 2nd half to lift UAB to a 2-1 victory on Sept. 9, 2018.

The Blazers remain in Birmingham, but will travel across town to face Samford on Feb. 18. Kickoff at Samford Track and Soccer Stadium will be at 6 p.m.


BBVA Field will accommodate fans with social distancing measures in place.

Fans will be asked to practice social distancing and sit in available seats. Masks are required at all times per state and county ordinance.
