UAB Women’s Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision to Old Dominion

NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion’s Yuliia Khrystiuk scored the only goal of the match as the Monarchs defeated UAB 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

UAB falls to 2-6-2, 1-1-0 C-USA while ODU improves to 6-2-0, 2-0-0 C-USA.

On the lone score, ODU was able to get control of the ball at midfield when Cami Johnstone found Khrystiuk on the left side of the box, who found the back of the net in the 55th minute.

The Blazers were held to a season-low four shots and allowed a season-high 26. Jessica Wheeler led UAB with a pair of shots, one on target. Keeper Anika Toth tied her career-high with seven saves.

The Blazers return home to face WKU (6-1-0, 1-0-0 C-USA). The Toppers defeated Marshall 2-1 in OT on Sept. 24 and host Middle Tennessee this evening.

  • Toth had seven saves earlier this season against No. 21 Arizona State and at North Texas on March 16
  • ODU leads the series 3-1-1
  • Toth, Audria Wood and Asha Zuniga all played 90 minutes
