BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women’s basketball team plays its final two regular season games at Bartow Arena beginning with WKU on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
UAB LATELY
UAB (12-15, 4-14 C-USA) fell to Rice 63-58 on Feb. 23. The Blazers are 8-5 at Bartow Arena this season.
WKU LATELY
WKU (14-12, 11-6 C-USA) is coming off a 70-65 setback against Louisiana Tech on Feb. 23. The Lady Toppers are 6-8 on the road this season.
UAB AND WKU HISTORY
The series dates back to 1981 and has been played 27 times with WKU holding a 20-8 advantage over UAB. The teams met 12 times when they were members of the Sun Belt, with the Blazers only win coming in 1991. In Conference USA play, the Lady Toppers lead 6-3. The teams have split two C-USA Championship games.

WKU hit five free throws in the final 36 seconds of play to hold on to a 75-71 victory over UAB on Jan. 11, 2023 Denim DeShields led the Blazers with 16 points and eight assists. Maria Roters scored 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting and Tracey Bershers tied her career-high with 11 points.

UAB TO THE AAC
American Athletic Conference officials announced that Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, UTSA, Rice and Texas San Antonio will join UAB as new members in the AAC and compete against current AAC members East Carolina, Memphis, Navy, USF, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa and Wichita State. The move will be official on July 1, 2023.
