BIRMINGHAM – This weekend UAB heads to St. Petersburg, Fla. for a pair of games. Dec. 21 they will face Alabama State followed by Duquesne on Dec. 22.
ABOUT ALABAMA STATE
Alabama State (1-9) is currently on a three game slide after picking their first win of the season against Chicago State on Nov. 30. The Hornets have a pair of players who have double-figure scoring in Tobi Ewuosho (12.9 pg) and Leon Daniels (12.0 ppg). Ewuosho is the team’s leading rebounder with 6.5 rpg.

Hakeem Baxter turned a mistake into a game-winning play on Nov. 16, 2015 in UAB’s 72-70 regular season home opener against Alabama State. A defensive lapse allowed Alabama State guard Jamel Waters to sneak behind Baxter. Waters appeared on his way toward the tying basket with the clock nearing zero. Baxter not only refused to give up, but he swatted Waters’ layup attempt away and the Blazers emerged with a hard fought victory over the Hornets before a spirited Bartow Arena crowd of 4,833.
ABOUT DUQUESNE
Duquesne (9-0) is one of four undefeated teams in the county – joining San Diego State, Liberty and Auburn. The Dukes have a NET of 20. Sincere Carry (11.6 ppg) is one of five Dukes that average double-figure scoring. Marcus Weathers, the A-10 co-Player of the Week, leads Duquesne with 8.0 rebounds per contest.

Carlos Williams scored a game-high 25 points, but it was the one-two punch of Duquesne’s Kevin Price (21 points, 10 rebounds) and Shelby Roberson (18 points) to lead Duquesne to an easy 92-72 victory over UAB at the Palumbo Center.
