UAB Men’s Basketball Continues to Move Up in National Polls

BIRMINGHAM – For the first time since March 7, 2016, the UAB men’s basketball team, led by first-year head coach Andy Kennedy, has received votes in the Associated Press Top 25 basketball poll.

Additionally, the Blazers have been ranked in the KenPom Top 100 for two straight months for the first time since the 2010-11 season.

UAB (16-2, 9-1 C-USA) is off to its best start in 11 years. The 2009-10 Blazers team also began 16-2. Coach Gene Bartow led UAB to a pair of 16-2 starts in 1985-86 and 1993-94. UAB has also tied its best Conference USA start with the 2015-16 team.

UAB’s 16 victories are tied for the sixth-most in the country and the Blazer defense ranks third in the NCAA, allowing just 57.8 points per game.

The Blazers take their six-game winning streak on the road to face Louisiana Tech (15-6, 8-1 C-USA) on Friday and Saturday. Both games will air on Stadium.
