UAB Hosts Old Dominion on Senior Day

BIRMINGHAM – UAB (17-13, 8-9 C-USA) concludes the regular season on Saturday night by celebrating the accomplishments of seniors Will Butler and Antonio Ralat. The duo will be honored in a pregame ceremony prior to the Blazers’ game against Old Dominion at Bartow Arena.

UAB AND ODU

UAB and Old Dominion began their series on Jan. 20, 1983 at the BJCC when the teams were members of the Sun Belt Conference. They have met a total of 35 times – in five cities and seven different venues – with the Blazers holding dominant 21-14 advantage. The teams have played every season since 2013-14 when ODU rejoined C-USA after spending the previous 23 seasons in the Colonial Athletic Association.

ABOUT ODU

ODU (13-17, 9-8 C-USA) has won their last two game, defeating UTSA 84-59 on Wednesday and Florida Atlantic 85-80 in overtime last Sunday. The Monarchs are 3-10 in road games this season, including a 2-6 mark in Conference USA games. ODU is last in C-USA in scoring, averaging 66.0 ppg, but is first in the league in rebounding with 39.6 rpg. Malik Curry is the Monarchs’ leading scorer with 13.5 ppg. Aaron Carver leads C-USA with 10.5 rpg.

LAST TIME AGAINST OLD DOMINION                                                

In the long anticipated rematch of last year’s Conference USA semifinal game, Old Dominion outlasted UAB 58-52 on Jan. 4, 2020.  Tyreek Scott-Grayson led the Blazers with 11 points and seven rebounds. Kassim Nicholson added 11 points. Kalu Ezikpe had a double-double of 12 points and 14 rebounds and A.J. Oliver II scored12 points for the Monarch.
