Top Broward Baseball Players might get shot at Professional Baseball

Several Broward high school baseball players may get an early shot at playing Major League Baseball. Gavin Conticello was one of the top players on the Marjory Stoneman Douglas baseball team that won the Florida 7A state baseball championship and a national championship. He played third base and had a .351 batting average. He has signed to play for the University of South Florida but could be drafted.

Irv Carter who played for Calvary Christian may get drafted. He is a highly regarded pitcher and had a 5-2 record with a 1.87 earned run average and 81 strikeouts. He has signed to play baseball for the University of Miami.

Andrew Painter is one of the top major league prospects among high school players. A pitcher for Calvary Christian, he was 6-1 with an 0.38 earned run average and struck out 93 batters in 47 innings. He was named Gatorade’s Florida Player of the Year and was a MaxPreps first team All-American.

Alex Ulloa, was a top hitter for Calvary Christian. He had a batting average of .482 and hit six home runs. He has signed with Oklahoma State University but could be drafted.

Devin Futrell is a highly regarded pitcher who played for American Heritage. He had an 8-1 record with one save and an 0.67 earned run average. He struck out 78 batters in 42 innings. He has signed to play baseball for Vanderbilt but could be drafted.
