Thursday Night Capsule – New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles

Week 7 of the 2020 NFL season gets underway on Thursday, October 22 (8:20 PM ET, FOX/NFL Network/Amazon), as the New York Giants visit the Philadelphia Eagles in an NFC East showdown. It will mark the 171st meeting between the two franchises, with the Eagles holding an all-time series lead, 85-83-2. Philadelphia has won the past seven matchups between the two clubs, including a 34-17 win in Week 17 last season to clinch the NFC East division title.

Last week, the Giants earned their first win of the season with a 20-19 victory over Washington. Rookie linebacker TAE CROWDER recovered a fumble and returned it 43 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, and the Giants defense stopped a two-point conversion attempt with 36 seconds remaining to seal the win. Quarterback DANIEL JONES rushed for a career-high 74 yards last week and ranks fourth among quarterbacks with 204 rushing yards this season. Wide receiver DARIUS SLAYTON recorded his 11th career touchdown reception last week. In his only career game at Philadelphia (Week 14, 2019), Slayton had five catches for a career-high 154 yards and two touchdowns. Linebacker BLAKE MARTINEZ led the Giants with 14 tackles last week and ranks second in the league with 64 tackles in his first season with New York. Last week, cornerback JAMES BRADBERRY registered his second interception of the season. Bradberry has 10 passes defensed in 2020, tied for the most in the NFL.

In Week 6, Philadelphia quarterback CARSON WENTZ totaled three touchdowns (two passing, one rushing) and has a rushing touchdown in four of his past five games. In four career home starts against the Giants, Wentz has five touchdown passes and one interception for a 93.8 rating. In the Week 17 meeting last season, running back BOSTON SCOTT had a career-high 138 scrimmage yards (84 receiving, 54 rushing) and a career-best three rushing touchdowns. He aims for his third in a row against the Giants with at least 125 scrimmage yards and a rushing touchdown. Wide receiver TRAVIS FULGHAM led Philadelphia with 75 receiving yards last week and aims for his fourth in a row with a touchdown reception. Defensive end BRANDON GRAHAM recorded his eighth-career game with at least two sacks last week and is one of three players (AARON DONALD and ZA’DARIUS SMITH) with at least five sacks (five) and six tackles for loss (eight) this season.
