Shannon Kavanagh tabbed as Midfielder of the Week; Brianna Harris & Kaitlyn Dabkowski named to Honor Roll
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Three Gators picked up American Athletic Conference weekly awards for their performances this past week, as the league announced Monday afternoon.
Shannon Kavanagh was named Midfielder of the Week for the fourth time this season, while Brianna Harris earned her second spot on the Honor Roll in 2020.
Kaitlyn Dabkowski picked up the first weekly accolade of her career on Monday, also earning a spot on the AAC Honor Roll.
Kavanagh notched Midfielder of the Week honors after scoring 10 points in two contests this week. Against then-No. 15 Dartmouth, she recorded four goals and one assist to lead the offensive attack. She also recorded seven draw controls, two groundballs and one caused turnover in the game.
Against High Point, Kavanagh also registered four goals and an assist, with two groundballs and a caused turnover. She recorded 13 of Florida’s 21 draw controls in the victory, tying both her career-high and the second-highest total in program history.
Harris recorded 13 points on eight goals and five assists this week to earn her spot on the Honor Roll. Against Dartmouth, she recorded a hat trick and two assists, while also adding four groundballs and two draw controls.
Against High Point, the redshirt junior recorded a career-high eight points on five goals – tying her career-high – and three assists. She shot .625 in the victory, while also registering one groundball. The two hat tricks over the week brought her to a total of five this season.
Dabkowski notched a spot on the Honor Roll after two stellar defensive performances. Against Dartmouth, she registered three draw controls, two groundballs and one caused turnover, while anchoring the defense that held the Big Green to 13-of-30 shooting.
Against the Panthers, she marked a top-offensive threat in Ashley Britton, holding her to 0-of-7 shooting on the day. As a squad, the Gators held High Point to a .307 shooting clip (10-of-27) in the game. She also recorded four draw controls and one groundball in the victory.
The Gators are back in action on Tuesday to face the No. 19 Navy Midshipmen. Opening draw is set for 12 p.m. at Donald R. Dizney Stadium on Taco Tuesday.
