South Florida Men’s Soccer Defeated At Seattle

SEATTLE (August 27th, 2023) – South Florida men’s soccer (0-2) fell to Seattle (1-1), 2-0, at Championship Field in Seattle, Wash. on Sunday evening.

The Redhawks managed to get on the board first at the 24’ minute, as Lennard Fock found an opening in the bottom right side of the goalposts, with an assist off of Mo Mohamed. Seattle further cemented the Bulls’ loss in the second half, as Kotaro Hirokawa nailed the final goal of the evening past Alan Horrocks in the top right corner of the net with just three minutes left to play in the match.

South Florida led the Redhawks in shots, 13-4, with eight coming in the second stanza. Two of the second-half attempts by USF’ Jeffery Copper and Nicolas Scargle were on target, but both were not allowed by Seattle’s goalie, Charlie Lanphier.

Four out of six of the Bull’s corner opportunities came in the second half, while Seattle wasn’t awarded a single corner throughout the match. Twenty-six fouls were collared tonight, which were split evenly between the two squads.

  • Ajmeer Spengler, Nicolas Scargle, Brian Schaefer, and Horrocks each logged a full 90 minutes of action.
  • Tonight marked the second game in a row that Horrocks allowed two goals against.
  • Seattle collected the first win of the South Florida-Seattle Series.
  • Three USF performers were handed yellow cards (Scargle, Schaefer, and Pedro Faife).
