DALLAS – No. 15 Florida Atlantic beach volleyball’s Emma Grace Robertson and Jillienne Cangelosi were named Conference USA Pair of the Week after going 3-1 during the FIU Surf N’ Turf Invitational, earning pair wins against No. 2 USC, No. 14 FIU, and FGCU, including clinching the Sandy Owls first ranked win of the season against No. 14 FIU.
The weekly honor marks the first career selection for Robertson and Cangelosi and the second weekly honor for the Sandy Owls this season.
Robertson and Cangelosi played a huge role in FAU’s 2-2 weekend at the FIU Surf N’ Turf, posting a 3-1 record over the Sandy Owls’ four duals. The Sandy Owls’ pair three opened the week with a three-set victory against FGCU, 16-21, 21-19, 15-9, before producing the pairs’ biggest win of the season so far, earning a straight-set victory against No. 2 USC, 21-19, 25-23. The duo then capped off the weekend with a huge dual-clinching three-set victory against No. 14 FIU, 18-21, 22-20, 15-13, to secure the Sandy Owls first ranked victory of the season.
