Oakland Park residents will have new places to enjoy exercise, recreational sports and other fun activities.
Oakland Park is celebrating the opening of Stevens Field. Improvements at the field are now complete and include a new walking trail, LED field lighting, enhanced drainage, fresh grading and sod, and a new restroom building. Following the ribbon-cutting, kids can participate in soccer drills, including passing and dribbling exercises, throw-ins, and shots on goal.
This marks another park improvement delivered to the community, with additional park upgrades underway or coming soon throughout Oakland Park, including Royal Palm Park, Veterans Park, Richard E. Giusti Heart Par Cours, and Glenwood Garden.
Work is moving ahead in Oakland Park’s downtown on another park project. Greenleaf Park is showing visible progress, with court surfaces in place, the playground area and pavilion underway, and work continuing on walkways, parking, lighting, and landscaping at 1300 Park Lane East. Once complete, Greenleaf Park will feature basketball, pickleball, tennis, a playground, pavilion, parking, lighting, and landscaping, adding a new space for recreation and connection in the heart of downtown.
Greenleaf Park is being delivered in partnership with the Horizon of Oakland Park development team, a joint venture of the Falcone Group and Kaufman Lynn Construction, Inc., with the park constructed at no cost to the city. As work continues, Greenleaf Park is becoming another visible example of the investment underway in public spaces across Oakland Park.
