Pompano Beach to offer Parking Citation Late Fee Amnesty Program

Because of the financial impact and hardship of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pompano Beach City Commission approved a Resolution removing parking citation late fees before deploying a parking immobilization system, known as the Barnacle Immobilization System, on August 10th .

The Parking Citation Late Fee Amnesty Program will allow violators to have their late fees removed for those who have outstanding unpaid citations. The program ends at the close of business on August 9, 2021. Letters have been sent out from the City to those who have three or more outstanding citations to encourage them to take advantage of the Late Fee Amnesty Program.

The City of Pompano Beach Parking Office will operate the program. To participate in the Parking Citation Late Fee Amnesty Program, you can stop by or call the Pompano Beach Parking Office located at 3460 NE 3rd Street in Pompano Beach. The Parking Office phone number is 954-786-5580.

The Barnacle Immobilization System is a bright yellow 20-pound device that looks similar to a common brief case that adheres to the windshield with 750 pounds of suction. The parking enforcement officer can easily and quickly apply the device to the front windshield. The device does not damage vehicles like other immobilization devices can. An alarm and tracking system are then activated using the keypad built into the device. If a vehicle operator attempts to drive away with the Barnacle on their vehicle’s windshield, a high-pitched alarm will sound. In order to remove the device, the operator simply calls the number on the device and once the outstanding fees are paid on the phone with a credit card, they are given a code to release the device.
