On February 26, 2022, at 8:11 A.M., Hollywood Police Officers responded to 3505 South Ocean Drive in reference to an individual armed with a gun. Once on scene, officers subsequently located the individual armed with a gun. The preliminary information gathered revealed the suspect fired at officers, which resulted in a police involved shooting. Following this confrontation, officers rendered aid to the armed individual who was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital for his injuries. A gun was recovered at the scene. No officers were injured.
This was an isolated incident and there is no further threat to those living in or visiting the area. As a standard operating procedure regarding police involved shootings, involved personnel have been placed on administrative duty pending further investigation. Investigators from FDLE responded to the scene and will conduct the officer use of force investigation, as is standard protocol for the Hollywood Police Department. This is an active investigation.
