No Place Like Hom-Bach in Lynn Men’s Soccer Victory

Daytona Beach, Fla. – A flurry of second-half goals was capped off by Lukas Hombach’s game-winner in the 84th minute to give the third-ranked Lynn University men’s soccer team a 3-2 victory over Embry-Riddle.  Lukas Ostermann netted a pair of goals to keep the Fighting Knights undefeated on the season.

STATS OF THE GAME:

  • It took only 5:04 for the Blue and White to get on the scoreboard as Ostermann slipped a shot from the top of the six-yard box off a pass from Julian Kirsting.
  • Embry-Riddle knotted the match at 1-1 in the 66th minute but Ostermann found the back of the net once again to put Lynn ahead 2-1 in the 75th minute.
  • The Eagles ran into trouble after the goal with a pair of red cards, forcing to the team to play down.
  • An own goal pulled the match even 2-2 with 78:13 on the scoreboard.
  • Hombach pulled off the heroics with less than 90 seconds to play when he buried a free kick past Jack Crichton.
  • Lynn outshot Embry-Riddle 17-5 and held an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Crichton recorded seven saves while Konstantin Fuhry did not record a stop in the match.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • Ostermann, Hombach and Levin Sandmann all share the team-lead with six goals. Sandmann leads the squad with 15 points.
  • This is Ostermann’s first multi-goal game as a member of the Blue and White.
  • Hombach’s four game-winners are the most since Alun Webb notched four in 2017.
  • The Fighting Knights have scored at least three goals in three consecutive matches for the first time since 2014.
  • Lynn is one of four remaining undefeated teams in the nation: Azusa Pacific (12-0-0), Adelphi (13-0-1) and Cal-State Los Angeles (11-0-1).
