BUCCANEERS WR MIKE EVANS, SAINTS DE CAMERON JORDAN &

PACKERS CB KEISEAN NIXON NAMED NFC PLAYERS OF WEEK 17

Wide receiver MIKE EVANS of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, defensive end CAMERON JORDAN of the New Orleans Saints and cornerback KEISEAN NIXON of the Green Bay Packers are the NFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played in Week 17.

OFFENSE: WR MIKE EVANS, TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

  • Evans recorded 10 receptions for 207 yards and three touchdowns in the Buccaneers’ 30-24 win over Carolina as Tampa Bay secured the NFC South division title for the second consecutive season. It marked the most receiving yards and touchdowns of any player in Week 17 and Evans’ fifth career game with at least 180 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions, tied with TYREEK HILL (five games) for the most such games in NFL history.
  • Evans surpassed 1,000 receiving yards on the season in Week 17 and became first player in NFL history with at least 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first nine seasons.
  • This is the second-career Offensive Player of the Week award for Evans, having previously won the award as a rookie in Week 11 of the 2014 season, and he joins CHRIS GODWIN as the only Buccaneers wide receivers to earn the honor multiple times.
  • He is the third former Texas A&M player to win multiple Offensive Player of the Week awards, joining RYAN TANNEHILL (three) and ROD BERNSTINE (two).

DEFENSE: DE CAMERON JORDAN, NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

  • Jordan registered five tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble in the Saints’ 20-10 win at Philadelphia in Week 17 as he became the Saints franchise all-time leader in sacks (115.5).
  • Jordan has 8.5 sacks this season and is the sixth player since 1982 to record at least seven sacks in 11 consecutive seasons, joining Pro Football Hall of Famers REGGIE WHITE (14 consecutive seasons), CHRIS DOLEMAN (13), JOHN RANDLE (12) and DERRICK THOMAS (11), as well as ROBERT MATHIS (11).
  • This is Jordan’s fifth-career Defensive Player of the Week award, tied with RICKEY JACKSON for the most in franchise history:
    • 2017: Week 6
    • 2019: Week 13
    • 2021: Weeks 15, 17
    • 2022: Week 17

SPECIAL TEAMS: CB KEISEAN NIXON, GREEN BAY PACKERS

  • Nixon recorded a 105-yard kickoff-return for a touchdown in the Packers’ 41-17 win over Minnesota. It marked the longest kickoff-return touchdown in the NFL this season.
  • This is Nixon’s first-career Special Teams Player of the Week award and he joins punter PAT O’DONNELL (Week 3) as Packers to win the award this season.
  • Nixon is the fourth former South Carolina cornerback to win a Player of the Week award and first since JOHNATHAN JOSEPH was named Defensive Player of the Week in Week 6 of the 2017 season.
